Micah Richards praised Liverpool star Fabinho on Sky Sports Premier League (6:42pm, January 17, 2021) for his performance against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday evening.
The former Manchester City star was impressed by the display produced by Fabinho in defence despite the Brazil international being a defensive midfielder by trade.
Liverpool played out a goalless draw with their bitter rivals United at Anfield in the Premier League.
Fabinho said about Fabinho on Sky Sports Premier League (6:42pm, January 17, 2021): “I thought Fabinho was excellent today. To drop back into a centre-back role, people think it’s easy coming up Rashford, who has got pace, and Martial, he didn’t get no change out of them today.”
Doing an important job
Fabinho cost Liverpool €45 million (£40.14 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from AS Monaco in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Brazil international has established himself as an important player in manager Jurgen Klopp’s team.
With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez injured at the moment, Fabinho has been playing in defence and is doing a very good job indeed, and he played well against United.
The 27-year-old was calm and assured at the back and frustrated Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
According to WhoScored, Fabinho had a pass accuracy of 91%, won one header, took 91 touches, and made two tackles, four interceptions and three clearances.
