Micah Richards is really excited about Everton 27-year-old

Micah Richards has told The Daily Mail that Abdoulaye Doucoure is a very good signing for Everton.

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa defender does not think that Doucoure had a good season for Watford last season.

However, Richards believes that the 27-year-old central midfielder will prove to be a good signing for Everton and will do a brilliant job in protecting the back-four.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes that Colombia international James Rodriguez – who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – could be a game-changer for the Toffees.

James has joined Everton from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Richards wrote in The Daily Mail: “It would be wrong for me to say that Everton have signed him on the back of a brilliant season for Watford. That wasn’t the case. He certainly did not reach the levels that had previously been expected of him, as Watford were relegated.

“However, he is exactly what Everton need. They have got midfielders, like Andre Gomes, who are beautiful on the eye but they need someone to protect the defence. He will do that. It feels like Everton have made a statement this summer and I’m fascinated to see how they get on.”

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Rodriguez, if he catches fire, could be a game-changer. But it hasn’t worked out for him for the last couple of years so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Big season ahead

Everton have also signed Allan from Napoli this summer, and it seems that the Merseyside outfit are determined to challenge for the European places.

Carlo Ancelotti is a world-class manager, and the Italian will want to achieve success at Everton.

The Toffees do have a good team, and the Merseyside outfit will fancy their chances of breaking into the top six of the Premier League table this season.
