Micah Richards has been complimentary of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, ahead of his side’s upcoming clash against Everton, while stating that he should proud of his contribution to the team, even if he gets benched from time to time.
The £100,000-a-week man has impressed since becoming a regular starter since Gabriel Jesus’ long-term injury, putting any and every doubt to bed by putting the ball into the back of the net and impressing due to his overall game.
As Arsenal prepare to lock horns against Sean Dyche’s Everton on Wednesday after losing to them relatively recently, Micah Richards has given his verdict on Eddie Nketiah.
Micah Richards gives positive Nketiah verdict ahead of Everton clash
The 23-year-old has been receiving plenty of plaudits for his displays, with Aaron Ramsdale calling him the most ‘underrated’ player at the club, while Tim Sherwood, Gary Neville and Paul Merson have also sung his praises.
Micah Richards has done the same, while sending Eddie Nketiah words of encouragement on BBC’s The Monday Night Club, as Arsenal get ready to battle against Everton.
“Do you remember the [All or Nothing] documentary, the Arsenal one and it was [Albert Sambi] Lokonga I think he was speaking to and he was like, ‘what are you moaning for?’”
“And he was saying he was always ready when needed. Let’s be honest, if Nketiah doesn’t play until the end of the season and wins the Premier League medal, do you think he’s going to be moaning?”, Micah Richards first said, ahead of Arsenal facing Everton.
He continued, “People will argue he should have scored more goals and he missed a few headers against Man City but his overall impact in the team has been greater than anyone would have expected. Everyone would have said that Arsenal can’t win the league now because they have Nketiah up front but he has played a key role in where they are in the league.”
“So, if he has to sit out from time to time, yes it disheartens any player, but it’s the end goal. It’s not individual, it’s a team and he’s done his part so far.”
Even if Eddie Nketiah does feel disheartened about not starting ocassionally, what Micah Richards said about his massive contribution in Arsenal being top of the Premier League table ahead of their contest against Everton certainly holds weight.
