Micah Richards told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (06/04/21 at 7:35 pm) that he was ‘devastated’ with the decision to leave reported Tottenham target, Sergio Aguero, out of Man City’s starting XI for their Champions League tie against Dortmund on Tuesday.

The former right-back also shared that the timing of Aguero’s announcement, that he is going to leave, has also ‘devastated’ him.

Given that Aguero is going to become a free agent in the summer, it has started rumours about who could secure his services.

The Telegraph report that Aguero is open to Premier League offers, including joining Tottenham.

But Richards thinks the decision to announce Aguero was going to leave should have been left until the end of the campaign.

“I am devastated, to be honest, because not only just tonight but the timing of the whole announcement,” said Richards.

“They are still in four competitions and you know you have this speculation about him leaving or whatnot. You can leave that until the end of the season.

“City need him in the right frame of mind. Now, everyone knows and he knows that he’s leaving. But hopefully, he can be in the right frame of mind to end the season well.

“He’s the greatest striker I have ever played with.”

Many will start the argument now whether Aguero is the greatest Premier League striker of all time because his name will be up there.

Perhaps the greatest of them all, Thierry Henry, once dubbed the Argentina star as ‘world-class’ (Goal), and even at the age of, 32, whoever acquires his services will get one hell of a player.

Of course, the only concern will be injuries, but if Aguero is away from the treatment room then he still has the capabilities of destroying many opposition teams.
