Micah Richards told BBC’s Final Score that Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son is ‘finally getting the credit that he deserves’.

The new Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton were at it again on Saturday after Harry Kane provided Heung-Min Son with yet another assist during Tottenham’s 3-0 win against Leeds from the weekend.

There’s no doubt that there is more flair and speed to Kane-Son’s partnership compared to the former Blackburn duo, who once combined in 13 goals during a single Premier League season.

But that has already been matched by Tottenham’s deadly duo this term, as Richards jokingly admitted that he is glad Shearer and Sutton’s record will be broken because he ‘sick to death’ at them being top of everything.

“They are going to go past it,” [Shearer and Sutton’s record],” said Richards. “I am just glad they have gone above Sutton and Shearer because I am sick to death of every game, every stat has just become about them.

“But it just shows that the quality that they are. We are talking about Kane, he is one of the best number 9’s in the world and Son is finally getting the credit he deserves because he is a fantastic player.”

It’s pretty remarkable that both Kane and Son have hit such numbers and it’s only January, whilst Kane also has a remarkable 11 assists to his name.

Given the way the England international is going, he will hit 20+ goals and assists for the season and that is world-class level performances.

But Kane will be hoping there is a trophy at the end of it because he is at the peak of his career.

Not forgetting that Son, who signed for £22 million five years ago [BBC Sport], is also chasing the Golden Boot, which will only increase Jose Mourinho’s chances of adding a trophy to the club’s cabinet.
