Micah Richards & Chris Sutton comment on Wolves & Everton's top-six hopes

Chris Sutton has warned Wolves not to ‘get ahead of themselves’ in their quest to finish in the top-six, whilst Micah Richards believes both Everton and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be ‘there or thereabouts’ at the end of the season.

Last season, Wolves finished seventh in the table following promotion from the Championship, with Everton finishing behind them in Marco Silva’s first season in charge of the Merseyside club.

With two games already played of the new Premier League season, many are tipping either Wolves or Everton to break into the top-six this term.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (19/08/2019), former Man City defender Richards and ex-Celtic striker Sutton stated that they’ll both fail in their quest to finish in the top-six.

“I think Wolves have done a great job,” Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think the difficulty for them this season is going to be the Europa League. They will be playing a lot of Sunday’s then Thursday’s and it’ll be a lot of travelling. But I think they have been amazing.

“With the players, they have got, I think they want to be doing similar to what Everton are doing. They played the likes of Jota and Neves in the Championship, they were miles apart. Easily the best players in the Championship. They feel at home in the Premier League. I think there will be there or thereabouts, similar to Everton.

On Wolves finishing top-six: “No, I don’t think they will,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think from Wolves’ point of view, don’t get ahead of yourselves. Last season was phenomenal. A bit of stability, finishing in the top half of the Premier League and Wolves would have had another fine season.”

Wolves have picked up two points from their first two Premier League matches – the most recent being a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

As for Everton, they have four points to their name, including two clean sheets, as they will be looking to add to their points tally when they take on Aston Villa on Friday night.
