Miami Heat believe they have a real pathway to Giannis Antetokounmpo

League executives have pointed to the Miami Heat as a team consistently mentioned when discussions turn to potential landing spots for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

As reported by Marc Stein, Miami’s belief has been communicated across league circles ahead of the February 5th trade deadline.

“So what team out there could actually tempt the Bucks into a deal in the next week-plus? The most common answer to that question when posed to various league executives continues to be Miami.

“Now is that merely because the Heat themselves are said to be transmitting a vibe of confidence that they can somehow sway the Bucks? Possibly.

“Miami, for what it’s worth, is said to believe it has a real shot at crafting a pathway to Antetokounmpo.”

What a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade would require

Any deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo would require a substantial return for Milwaukee given his status as a franchise cornerstone.

Miami would need to assemble a package featuring multiple premium assets and draft capital to satisfy the Bucks.

For now, the Heat’s internal confidence has ensured they remain one of the teams most closely associated with Antetokounmpo as the situation develops.

Of course, any deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo depends entirely on his willingness to leave the team this season, rather than the summer.
