The Arsenal midfielder is back in contention as the Gunners prepare to take on the Premier League leaders in the EFL Cup.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has taken to Twitter with a message for the Gunners fanbase in which he declares that “the only way is standing together as one” – a message which has gone down extremely well with much of the fanbase.
The 31-year-old has made just two appearances this season for Arsenal and has not featured for Unai Emery’s side since the EFL Cup third round win over Nottingham Forest at the end of September.
Indeed, Ozil has not been included in any of Arsenal’s last six matchday squads and, last week, he was reportedly spotted in tense talks with Emery at the club’s training ground ahead of the Europa League match against Vitoria (Metro).
The Gunners travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the League Cup fourth round this week, and Emery announced at his pre-match conference (official Arsenal website) that Ozil has made the squad for Wednesday’s tie.
Here is Ozil’s pre-match message to the fans from his personal Twitter account:
And some of the reaction by the Arsenal faithful:
Emery refused to confirm whether Granit Xhaka would be stripped of the captaincy following his show of dissent after being substituted against Crystal Palace, but suggested that Ozil could potentially be handed the armband against Jurgen Klopp’s side (Football London).
