The former Chelsea man says there are no doubts about the Arsenal star’s quality.

Speaking to Goal, former Chelsea man Marko Marin has claimed Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is the best number ten in the world.

The German has been in impressive form for the Gunners at the beginning of this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions so far.

His form has been key to Arsenal’s strong start to the campaign that sees them sitting joint top of their Champions League group and just two points away from Premier League leaders Liverpool.

His performances have earned rave reviews, with many believing Ozil is among the best players in the world.

For Marin, who played with his compatriot at Werder Bremen, there are no doubts about it.

“He’s a great player – everybody knows this,” he told Goal.

“He’s doing very well for Arsenal. To win titles, they need players like him and I think Arsenal are in a good way now. He’s the best in his position, if not one of the top three in the world.”

Arsenal will now be hoping that Ozil can continue his form for the remainder of the season.

As Marin says, the German is key to their title hopes this season and keeping him fit and in form will play a huge part in how successful they are.

They will also be keen to see him start adding more assists to his game after he shone in that regard last season.

By this time in the campaign he had nine to his name but has just one this year and if he can add the assists to his new-found goalscoring touch then there will be no denying his status as one of world football’s best.
