Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil has said on Twitter that he does not plan to join Schalke for the rest of the season.
Ozil made the comments when asked if he could return to Schalke and join Sead Kolasinac.
Kolasinac has moved to Schalke on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window and will stay at the German club until the end of the season.
Ozil started his professional club football career at Schalke before moving to Werder Bremen in 2008.
The future of Ozil at Arsenal is uncertain at the moment, with The Guardian reporting that Turkish club Fenerbahce and Major League Soccer outfit DC United are among the clubs interested in the former Real Madrid star.
A report in The Mirror has claimed that the German is also in talk with the Gunners over terminating his current contract.
Leaving Arsenal
Ozil has not played for Arsenal since March 2020, and it is very likely that he will not turn out for the Gunners again.
The German attacking midfielder was not included in Arsenal’s Premier League or Europa League squad, and it is likely that he does not feature in manager Mikel Arteta’s plans anymore.
