Mesut Ozil has taken to Twitter to post an eight-word tweet after Arsenal’s U-turn regarding Gunnersauras was confirmed by the man – or dinosaur – himself.
The popular mascot’s Twitter account posted a five-word tweet which read: ‘Back at Emirates Stadium today.’
In response to Gunnersauras’ message, the German wrote: ‘Happy to see you back where you belong.’
Arsenal had initially made the mascot redundant as part of an overhaul which saw 55 staff members sacked amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
The first-team players and Mikel Arteta also agreed to a 12.5% pay cut in April due to the financial implications of COVID-19, as reported by the BBC.

The man inside the suit, Jerry Quy, had been in his role since 1993.
After hearing that news, Ozil offered to pay his salary in order to keep Gunnersauras alive, which was a very kind and noble gesture from the former Real Madrid playmaker.
Without supporters inside the Emirates Stadium, Gunnersauras’ impact on matchdays has lost a lot of significance.

However, it was a poor decision by Arsenal to sack Quy, who is part of the furniture at the north London club.
In that respect, it’s good to see that the Gunners took Ozil up on his offer and have now allowed Quy to continue his role as Gunnersauras, even amid a time where no fans are allowed in.
