Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil isn’t holding back on social media.

Fans are gearing up for the new Premier League season, and players are seemingly chomping at the bit to renew hold rivalries as well.

It’s been nearly three months without Premier League action, but in just over two weeks, top-flight action will return to English football.

Today, Tottenham Hotspur have been in action against Manchester United, with the Red Devils claiming a 2-1 win in Shanghai.

Remarkably, Arsenal star Mesut Ozil became the source of another joke today, this time surrounding the Tottenham team photo taken before today’s game with United.

The make-up of the two rows looked strangely balanced, almost like another invisible player was stood on the back row to make it two rows of six.

Of course, any mention of an ‘invisible player’ will spark jokes about Ozil, with the Arsenal playmaker being the source of such jokes about him going missing for years now.

This time though, Ozil found the tweet and decided to hit back with a cutting response of his own, telling the Spurs fan that you can see Tottenham’s trophy cabinet if you look closely – another joke about it being invisible.

Fair play to Ozil for getting involved in the jokes in pre-season, and he won’t have long to wait to go face-to-face with Spurs, as the two North London rivals meet in 2019 – an ideal opportunity to show Spurs that he’s far from an invisible man.
