Messi vs Ronaldo has been a consistent theme of the last decade, and we are now set to see another chapter.
There have been rumours that Paris Saint-Germain will take the World Cup winner to Saudi Arabia to face off against the new Al-Nassr No.7 in 2023, after the Saudi Pro League side announced the 37-year-old’s arrival.
So, is Messi vs Ronaldo set for another chapter? Let’s take a look…
Messi vs Ronaldo
Yes – Messi will be facing Ronaldo for a 37th time.
As things stand, the Argentina international has clashed with the Portugal international on 36 occasions, and there is now set to be a 37th encounter as PSG take on a combined Al-Nassr/Al-Hilal team in the Riyadh Season Cup.

The French giants were supposed to play against the combined XI of Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal many months ago, although the fixture was postponed due to the global pandemic.
Now, however, that delay has allowed the Riyadh Season Cup clash to involve one more meeting between Messi and Ronaldo, as PSG are contractually obligated to fulfil the fixture.
An exact date is yet to be decided, although Messi is expected to face off against Ronaldo sometime in January.
That is according to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports.
It is widely expected that this will be the last time Messi and Ronaldo go head-to-head as they enter the latter stages of their respective careers.
Ronaldo vs Messi record
So far, Ronaldo has been on the losing side 16 times in his 36 appearances against Messi.
The Al-Nassr No.7 has won 11 of those encounters, while the other nine have ended in draws.
No player has faced Ronaldo as many times as Messi other than Sergio Busquets, who has 38 meetings with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to his name.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more information about the Riyadh Season Cup clash, with further details to come.
