Dju joined West Ham from Portuguese side Benfica on Wednesday.

West Ham United completed the signing of teenage attacker Mesaque Dju from Portuguese side Benfica on Wednesday afternoon – and the youngster posted a message to Hammers fans on Instagram.
Dju, 19, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with the Hammers until the summer of 2022. Sky Sports claim Dju has been signed on a free transfer.
The Portuguese attacker was part of the Portugal Under-19 side that won the European Championships in Finland last summer, starring alongside ex-Hammer Domingos Quina who has since joined Watford.
Dju posted a determined message to Hammers fans to prove his worth at the London Stadium, though he is expected to begin his West Ham career in Terry Westley’s Under-23 side.
His message is translated as: “Dreams choose people, do not put your limits on your dreams. Put faith and anything you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. A new challenge in my life that I will face with full heart.
“Thanks West Ham for the way they have received me, the dream starts here.”
Dju has shown plenty of promise in the red of Benfica, after breaking into the club’s second string and making eight appearances. Though not such a big feat in England, Benfica’s reserves play in the second tier of Portuguese football.
He is not the only promising Portuguese player at West Ham, after Xande Silva made his Hammers debut back in December against Burnley. Dju could make his Under-23 debut as Westley’s men travel to Arsenal on Monday night.
