Would Everton manager Ronald Koeman be an able successor to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal?
Paul Merson has suggested in The Daily Star that Arsenal should look at Everton manager Ronald Koeman.
Arsene Wenger has been in charge of Arsenal for over 20 years, but his current contract with the Gunners runs out at the end of the season.
No new deal is in place, and perhaps the Frenchman will step down from his position at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Former Arsenal attacker Merson has suggested that the North London outfit should look to appoint Koeman as Wenger’s successor.
Koeman was appointed the Everton manager in the summer of 2016 following two years at Premier League rivals Southampton.
“Arsenal need someone much more ruthless,” Merson wrote in The Daily Star. “Someone like Koeman. He’s got a mean streak and he doesn’t let his players get away with anything.
“I think he’d be a good fit and would take the job if they offered it to him. If not, they should get on the phone to Luis Enrique. He’s managed a world-class team full of world-class players.”

Koeman had a very successful playing career and has done quite well in the Premier League as a manager so far.
The Dutchman’s footballing style would suit Arsenal, and his experience of playing with and managing top footballers is also something the Gunners should take into account.
The 53-year-old struggled severely at Valencia back in the 2007-08 season, but those days are behind him now.
