Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City will face each other in the Premier League this weekend.

Paul Merson - Walsall Manager

Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has suggested in The Daily Star that Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri will not field his best players against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Leicester will take on Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Foxes will head into the match in North London on the back of a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium in the league.

The Foxes will then face FC Copenhagen away from home in Champions League Group G next week.

Former Arsenal attacker Merson has suggested that Leicester manager Ranieri will not field his best starting lineup against Tottenham.

The Englishman believes that the Italian tactician will rest players against Spurs in order to keep them fresh for the match against Copenhagen.

“Tottenham against Leicester is probably the game of the weekend, after what happened last season,” Merson wrote in The Daily Star.

“Robert Huth’s late winner at White Hart Lane ended up being pivotal in the title race. It was a massive result.

“But I expect Claudio Ranieri to do Spurs a favour and rest players for this one. It’s all about the Champions League for Leicester this season.

“They’ve left out big players before other games and I reckon they will again. Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have both been rested and I bet they won’t both play.”

Leicester are unlikely to finish in the top four or even the top six of the Premier League this season.

The Foxes, though, are going strong in the Champions League and are in a great position to progress to the last 16.

Ranieri’s side are at the top of Group G with nine points from three matches, five points clear of second-placed Copenhagen.
