The Black Cats are among the relegation favourites this season.

Paul Merson has told Sky Sports if David Moyes can keep Sunderland up this season it will represent a job well done.
Moyes took charge at the Stadium of Light this summer after Sam Allardyce departed to take the England job.
Many have them pegged as relegation favourites once again, especially after the somewhat uninspiring work they managed to do in the summer transfer window.

He has not enjoyed a happy start to life in the North East, with his side yet to pick up a win in their four games so far.
And for Merson, simply avoiding relegation would represent a job well done for the former Everton manager. He told Sky Sports:
“We all expect Sunderland to struggle and be around the relegation area.”
“I honestly think if he can just keep them up then that’s a job well done. No disrespect but this is a difficult league this and he has to get them fourth from bottom.”

It remains to be seen if Sunderland do end up fighting relegation once again this season.
They are currently 19th in the table with just one point from their first four games, which represents an even worse start than they endure last year.
Work is definitely needed to ensure a relegation battle is not on the cards and a win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday would be the perfect manner in which to get their season on the right track, even at this early stage.
