Paul Merson has claimed in The Daily Star that Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk is not fully fit ahead of the Premier League game against Arsenal.

The former Arsenal star believes that Van Dijk is not playing the way he normally does.

The Sky Sports pundit has pointed out that Liverpool are getting caught out a lot and are conceding far too many goals.

Liverpool will take on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “I don’t think Virgil Van Dijk is fully fit and until he is, he can’t play the way he normally does without Liverpool letting in goals. They’re getting caught out a lot.”

Is Virgil van Dijk not fit?

Van Dijk has not been at his best so far this season.

Liverpool have lost once already in the Premier League.

And they have conceded 11 goals.

In 11 matches.

However, we cannot blame Van Dijk for that.

Van Dijk missed a huge chunk of last season, but the 30-year-old is fit now and is playing regularly.

The Netherlands international has played 11 Premier League games and three Champions League matches this season.

How many more games does Van Dijk need to be, as Merson puts it, “fully fit”?

In our view, Van Dijk is fully fit.
