Paul Merson has raved about reported Liverpool target Christian Pulisic in The Daily Star.
The former Arsenal star has said that the Chelsea attacking player is better in front of goal than his teammate Timo Werner.
Merson made the comments about the USA international while making an argument for the Chelsea star to start ahead of Werner against Manchester City in the Champions League final this season.
The Daily Mail reported in March that Liverpool are interested in signing the 22-year-old from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2021.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Timo Werner scored a big goal for Chelsea against Real Madrid. But he shouldn’t play in the Champions League final.
“Christian Pulisic should start against Manchester City – because he is a better finisher. I’d be shocked if Pulisic doesn’t play. He can beat two or three players and he’s better in front of goal than Werner.”

The Sky Sports pundit’s comments show just how highly rated Pulisic is. While Werner has struggled to score regularly this season, the 22-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has done well when he has been called upon despite his injury issues.
Germany international forward Werner has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 26 Premier League starts and has scored four goals and given two assists in nine Champions League starts for Chelsea this season.
Pulisic has scored four goals and provided one assist in 14 league starts and has scored two goals and provided two assists in four Champions League starts for the Blues this campaign.
Werner was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer. Sky Sports reported in June 2020 that the Reds were also interested in the 25-year-old, who even held talks with manager Jurgen Klopp over the phone.
Pulisic is in his second season in the Premier League now, and the American would be a good signing for Liverpool and would give Klopp a valuable option in attack.
