Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will leave if Antonio Conte’s lose to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the North London derby.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that if Tottenham lose to Arsenal, then Kane will question what he is going to achieve as a footballer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham and Arsenal will face each other in the Premier League on Sunday.

England international striker Kane, who earns £200,000 per week as salary at Tottenham (SalarySport), is set to start in the North London derby.

Paul Merson on Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane ahead of Arsenal game

Merson wrote: “Despite all the talk about Arsenal and the Premier League title, this feels like a decisive game for Tottenham and Harry Kane.

“If Arsenal go and beat Spurs, Kane will be slumped there wondering ‘do I really sit here for the rest of my career and risk winning nothing?’

“This is a huge game for him because he could equal or surpass Jimmy Greaves’ goalscoring record and if Tottenham win this, everything feels rosy again having dented Arsenal’s title hopes.

“A defeat would leave Kane scratching his head, thinking ‘even our arch-rivals have gone clear of us – what am I doing here?’

“Everyone is looking for a centre-forward and the only buyable striker right now is Kane. Both sides have to win.”

Unlikely

In our view, Harry Kane is unlikely to make a decision on his future based on the result of North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Now, of course, Kane will want to win major trophies with Tottenham, but the striker will be well aware that Arsenal are in the Premier League title race this season and Spurs are not.

A defeat for Tottenham will not really affect their chances of winning the Premier League title.

Because they are not in the race.

It will, though, make it harder for them to finish in the top four, but there is a long way to go this season.
