Paul Merson predicts an Arsenal win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Paul Merson has told SkySports that he felt Tottenham Hotspur’s midweek display was their worst ever under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs lost 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley in the Champions League, looking disjointed and low on confidence.

They have scored just four goals in their last six games and have not won any of them, and now face an in form Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

Merson is tipping his old team Arsenal to win 3-1 against Spurs, believing it will be a tight contest, but the Gunners will have enough to see off their North London rivals.

He said: “If Tottenham play like they did in the Champions League in midweek then you can’t see anything but an Arsenal win. It was probably their worst-ever performance under Mauricio Pochettino.

“If Arsenal watched that they’ll be thinking they’ve just got to turn up and get the three points, but of course it doesn’t work like that.

“If they’re at it straight away then I don’t see Tottenham being able to live with them.”

Tottenham’s poor form has coincided with Harry Kane’s injury, with Vincent Janssen failing to step up. Heung-Min Son provided an early spark after Kane got injured, but he too has faded in the past month.

Arsenal in contrast are on a high and believing anything is possible after Mesut Ozil’s midweek wonder goal. Perhaps it is the perfect time for Tottenham to re-construct the pre-game narratives, but they will have to up their game to do so.
