Arsene Wenger has been in charge of Arsenal for 20 years.

Former player and current pundit Paul Merson says Arsenal have no ambition and any other big club would have sacked him by now after failing to land the Premier League title in 12 years, The Daily Star report.
Wenger celebrates 20 years in charge of the Gunners and many have been quick to praise the Frenchman not only for his efforts in North London, but the overall effect he has had on the English game.
However, his relationship with the Arsenal supporters has not been so rosy over the past few years, with a growing number of fans becoming frustrated at the side’s lack of major trophies.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title in 12 years, yet their persistence with Wenger suggests that the club are happy for the Frenchman to qualify for the Champions League every year while posting profits.
Merson, though, feels his former side lack ambition and adds any other big club would have sacked Wenger for a failure to land the title in over a decade, as he wrote in his weekly column for the Daily Star.
“Arsene Wenger is only still at Arsenal because they have lost their ambition. Wenger has done fantastic things for the club and 20 years at one club is an incredible achievement. But it’s too long,” Merson wrote.
“Any other big club would have sacked him by now. Arsenal should be in the title race every year. They should be fighting for it every April. But there’s not been too many years like that. They haven’t won the league in 12 years.”

Arsenal’s best chance to win the title was arguably last season, when the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea also faltered, allowing Leicester City to remarkably top the pile.
The Gunners strengthened their squad in the summer and added expensive recruits in Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez but they still seem short on real quality.
After six games of the current season, Wenger’s side sit in fifth place in the Premier League table.
