It looks like Fabio Cardoso is about to earn another shot at the big time, despite a poor spell at Rangers earlier in his career.
The Portuguese centre-back got a big move to Ibrox in 2017 during Pedro Caixinha’s reign as Rangers boss.
But he lasted only 12 months in Glasgow and managed a total of just 12 Premiership appearances.
He returned to his homeland to join Santa Clara but, according to The Record, he’s set for a much bigger move.
The 27-year-old is apparently on the brink of signing for Porto, who reached the Champions League quarter-finals this past season.
Cardoso will fetch a reported £1.7 million.
He wasn’t a hugely popular player among Rangers fans but, given the supporters’ reaction to this bit of news, it’s clear that he also wasn’t an unpopular player by any means.
Here’s how some on the blue half of Glasgow are reacting to this transfer:
The big defender has started 88 games in Portugal’s top flight since returning three years ago, scoring 10 goals in the process, and it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares in the Champions League with Porto next season.
