‘Super agent’ Jorge Mendes has helped Ronaldo Vieira secure his switch away from Leeds United to Sampdoria, report Premium Sport.
Vieira is now said to be represented by Mendes, the world’s best known agent.
How Leeds fans view this, depends on whether or not they would regard Vieira’s departure at £6.2 million fair value.
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani called out Mendes earlier this year, criticising his involvement with Wolves which led to their promotion.
BBC Sport reported Radrizzani also wrote to the EFL, FA, and Premier League, questioning Mendes’ role.
Now Mendes has helped facilitate the departure of Leeds’ brightest young talent, who Radrizzani tied to a four-year contract less than one month after he became sole owner of the Whites in 2017.
A cool, calculated piece of revenge from Mendes?
Perhaps, but Radrizzani and Mendes’ will have had to put the spat behind them to do business, and getting £6.2 million for Vieira could still turn out to be good business.
Leeds may go onto regret selling for such a low fee, but he struggled last season, and failed to win over Marcelo Bielsa this summer too.
Landing a sizeable fee for Vieira may go onto look very good in a couple of seasons time if the midfielder cannot break through at Sampdoria, and Radrizzani could still turn out to be the winner… whatever Mendes’ intentions.
