Liverpool should consider a move for the Lyon ace.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will surely be keen to bolster his attacking ranks before next week’s transfer deadline.

The Reds have signed young duo Harvey Elliot and Sepp van den Berg, but that might not be enough, if they are to challenge for major honours once again this term.

One particular area of the Liverpool squad that could do with strengthening is their attacking department.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane almost pick themselves, but Klopp has just Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster in reserve.

And with this in mind, the German should consider a blockbuster move for Memphis Depay, in spite of his failed stint at Manchester United.

There will be Reds fans who are against the idea of signing a United reject, but if he continues the form he has shown over the past two years with Lyon, they would surely quickly forget his links with their bitter rivals.

Pace

Depay, 25, possesses blistering pace over short distances, and his direct playing style makes him ideally suited to Klopp’s intense, high-octane setup at Anfield.

Goal and assist record

The Holland international has racked up 39 goals and 41 assists in 116 appearances in all competitions for Lyon, and that kind of attacking output really could take the Reds to another level entirely.

Versatility

Depay can play anywhere along the front-line from left-wing to the number 10 position to centre-forward, and this is exactly what Klopp likes in his forwards.

This would enable him to interchange with the likes of Salah, Firmino and Mane during games.

According to the Mirror, he is available for around £50 million this summer, and in today’s day and age, that might just prove to be excellent value for Liverpool.

He might get some stick from both Liverpool and United fans, but if he plays to his full potential, he would surely become an instant hero at Anfield.
