Tottenham fans have gone wild on Twitter after hearing Jermain Defoe refer to the club as ‘we’ when speaking to the Mennie Talks podcast.
When discussing Jose Mourinho’s side’s chances of winning silverware, the Rangers striker said: ‘I’m looking at the performances and we have Mourinho. People can say what they want, but we have Mourinho and we are playing the way we are, so anything can happen. I see a trophy coming anyway.’
It’s clear that Defoe still holds Tottenham dear to his heart, and views himself as part of the Spurs family despite leaving the north Londoners back in 2014.
There’s no denying that the 38-year-old is one of the best forwards to have ever pulled on a Tottenham shirt.
Defoe scored 143 goals for Spurs in 362 appearances, while also recording 31 assists.

The England international was part of the last Tottenham side to win a trophy, which was the League Cup back in 2008.
He believes that more trophies are on the horizon for a world-class Spurs squad boasting the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Tanguy Ndombele, and it’s hard to argue.

With a serial winner such as Mourinho at the helm managing this vast array of quality footballers, it is hard to see Spurs not winning something under the Portuguese coach.
While Tottenham fans will presumably be happy that Defoe thinks silverware is on the horizon, it’s his use of the word ‘we’ that has sent them wild on Twitter…
