Reports that Sunderland have offered Luke Garbutt a contract after Everton released him ( Northern Echo) haven’t gone down well with many of an Ipswich Town persuasion.
Garbutt spent last season on loan to Ipswich from Everton, and has been linked with a permanent return to Portman Road.
But interest from Sunderland, who are based much closer to the left-back’s Harrogate roots, could leave any Town hopes under threat.
And the following Ipswich fans appear to be losing hope of a return for the Yorkshireman.
Garbutt scored or made nine goals in 30 games for Ipswich last season and found the net in their 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Portman Road.
But he is also said to have interest from Championship clubs.
Garbutt was released by Everton having spent 11 years at Goodison Park – with the Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti later admitting that he didn’t even know who he was.
But the 27-year-old, who Everton prised from Leeds United’s academy ranks, reacted surprisingly well to Ancelotti’s comments.
Ipswich fans – how big a blow would losing Garbutt be?
