Nuno Espirito Santo has signed 12 players for Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have gone through a major rebuilding project this summer.
Under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the club have signed as many as 12 new players, with Ruben Neves being their costliest purchase from FC Porto.
According to former Wolves striker and club legend Mel Eves, the failure to land a top quality centre-forward may come back to haunt them.
Wolves have signed Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota this summer from Hilal and Atletico Madrid, respectively, but the club officials felt (and Eves as well) that another striker was necessary.
Eves says that Nuno has to work with his team at “stretching” and getting “behind the opposition’s defence”, which he feels is the key to Wolves’ sustaining their promising start to the season.
Wolves have made a good start to their 2017/18 Championship campaign, having won three in their opening five games.
They will face Millwall at the Molineux Stadium in their next Championship game.
“I do hope that Wolves failure to bring another quality centre-forward into the Molineux doesn’t come back to bite them,” wrote Eves in his column for the Sunday Mercury (printed edition, September 3rd – press reader).
“Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has to work with his team at stretching and getting behind the opposition defence – this, in my opinion is the key for Wolves sustaining their promising start to the season.”
