Former Wolverhampton striker and now football pundit Mel Eves is pleased with West Brom’s transfer activity this summer.

It has been a busy transfer window for Tony Pulis who made some interesting signings, and also shipped out unwanted players.

However, where the transfer window has been a real success for them is in their strong desire to keep hold of star players, with Nacer Chadli and Jonny Evans both staying put amidst exit rumours.

Eves says that Baggies’ fans must be pleased with the six new arrivals.

West Brom have bolstered their attacking line up by adding Jay Rodriguez, who joined from Southampton.

The addition of Kieran Gibbs will solve West Brom’s long standing left-back problem, while Ahmed Hegazy is another new name in the defensive set up.

Gareth Barry has joined from Everton, while Oliver Burke and Grzegorz Krychowiak are excellent additions too.

Eves, 60, says that it would have been ideal if West Brom had added another striking option.

West Brom have made a strong start to their 2017/18 Premier League campaign, with seven points from three games, and Eves expects them to finish within the top half of the league this season.

“Another striking option would have capped things off nicely, but having gained seven points from first three games, I fully expect the Baggies to be competing in the top half of the Premier League again this season,” wrote Eves in his column for the Sunday Mercury (printed edition, September 3rd – press reader).
