Mehrdad Ghodoussi has taken to Twitter to send a message to Newcastle United fans.
As reported by The Times, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have decided to withdraw their proposal to buy Newcastle after the Premier League failed to make a decision after so many weeks.
Ghodoussi is the husband of finance broker Amanda Staveley, who was playing an important role in PIF’s bid to buy the Magpies.
The businessman has sent a message to Newcastle fans on Twitter after the decision to withdraw the bid was made.
According to The Times, Staveley was in tears as she spoke about PIF’s decision to withdraw the bid, with the Premier League taking weeks to decide whether or not to give approval to it.
Interestingly, current Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will still keep the £17 million he was paid as a deposit, according to the report.
The Times have also claimed that there was a late attempt from Ashley to renegotiate terms amid speculation of a rival offer of £350 million from an American consortium led by the businessman Henry Mauriss.
