Joe Rodon has failed to make a huge impact at Tottenham Hotspur, and we were not surprised when Spurs decided to send the Wales international central defender out on loan to Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur signed Joe Rodon from Swansea City in 2020.

Joe Rodon struggled at Tottenham Hotspur before Leeds United loan

Rodon showed a lot of promise during his time at Swansea, but he has failed to make a positive impression at Tottenham.

The 25-year-old central defender was on loan at Rennes in France last season, and in the summer transfer window, he moved to Leeds United in the Championship.

Rodon has made 15 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The centre-back has kept two clean sheets in those games.

Rodon has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Leeds so far this campaign.

Media praise for Joe Rodon for Wales

The defender was in action for Wales against Latvia on Monday evening.

And he was very good.

Wales got the better of Latvia 2-0 away from home in European Championship Qualifying Group D.

Rodon started at the centre of a three-man backline.

WalesOnline rated his performance 7 out of 10 and noted: “As above, really, good aerially and spread the ball well, linking up with the wing-backs and midfielders. A crucial cog in that back three all night.”

During his time on the pitch, Rodon took two shots but neither of them was on target, had a pass accuracy of 83.3%, won nine headers, took 59 touches, and made one tackle, one interception and four clearances.

Rodon is under contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2024.
