Colombian media outlet Gol Caracol have been writing about Yerry Mina, and they believe Rafa Benitez has transformed the Everton defender.
What’s the story?
Well, after Mina was spotted clashing with Neymar in Sunday’s 0-0 draw between Colombia and Brazil, some believe the Toffees man has changed.
Gol Caracol reference a previous interview from Benitez, in which he states he doesn’t want any ‘good boys’ in his backline.
Mina has clearly taken this in, as he’s become a far spikier character than before.
Aside from winding up Neymar – to good effect as it kept him off the scoresheet – Mina also clashed with Luis Suarez on Friday.
Gol Caracol believe Mina has become ’empowered’ under Benitez, and feel he is now a ‘new’ player under the Spaniard.
About time Everton got more from Yerry Mina

The 27-year-old cost Everton a serious amount of money at £27.2m, when signing him from Barcelona in August 2018.
Since then, he hasn’t really done much at Goodison Park.
For example, few would consider him among the leading centre-backs in the Premier League, even three years after he arrived.
To make matters worse, he is Everton’s highest earner on £120,000-a-week.

In fairness, Mina hasn’t really had much peace at Goodison Park, with plenty of managerial chances occurring since he was signed.
However, the South American should be in his best years at 27, although we haven’t really seen enough from him.
Hopefully, Benitez is beginning to transform the centre-back into a £27.2m player – it’s about time he showed his quality to those on Merseyside.
