The Southampton youngster could be given a starting berth against Brighton.

Southampton host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Wednesday night but Mauricio Pellegrino’s side may have to cope without the services of first-choice left-back Ryan Bertrand.
Bertrand has produced some impressive performances this season but suffered a hamstring injury in the FA Cup victory against Watford at the weekend and will be assessed, as reported by The Daily Echo.
With Matt Targett having joined Fulham on loan earlier this month, Sam McQueen is the most likely option to deputise if Bertrand is ruled out.

McQueen has been used sparingly this season and hasn’t featured for almost a month, but the youngster would surely relish the opportunity to step up if Bertrand can’t be called upon.
Southampton are currently in 18th place in the table and know that they have much work to do in order to preserve their Premier League status.

Losing Bertrand for any period of time would be very disappointing for Southampton, but it would present McQueen with a chance to demonstrate what he is capable of and show that he is able to have a long-term career at the club.
