Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly wanted to sign John McGinn before he joined Aston Villa from Hibernian in the summer of 2018.

Tam McManus has suggested on Twitter that failure to sign John McGinn before he went to Aston Villa has played a key role in Brendan Rodgers’s reported decision to leave Leicester City.
As announced on Celtic’s official website, the Hoops have given former Liverpool manager Rodgers permission to speak to Premier League club Leicester.
It does look likely that Rodgers will join the Hoops for the Foxes imminently, with The Scottish Sun claiming that Leicester will pay the Glasgow giants around £6 million in compensation.
Former Hibernian midfielder McManus has suggested on Twitter that missing out on McGinn to Villa in the Championship in England was a key factor in Rodgers eventually deciding to leave the Hoops.
The Scotland international joined Villa from Hibernian in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Times to be worth £2.75 million.
According to The Times, Celtic wanted to sign the 24-year-old midfielder and made a late move for the former St. Mirren star, but the Scottish Premiership giants missed out.
