Derek McInnes has just rejected Rangers. Like with the Sunderland job, will the Aberdeen manager be proven correct in doing so?

For the second time in 2017, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has rejected the chance to take up a position at another club.
In June, McInnes turned down the opportunity to fill the vacant position at Sunderland following the sacking of David Moyes – as reported by the Sunderland Echo at the time – and now the 46-year-old has done the same to Rangers.
Pedro Caixinha is seen during the Betfred League Cup Semi Final between Rangers and Motherwell.
The Glasgow side have been without a permanent boss for over six weeks since Pedro Caixinha was dismissed, but were forced to release a statement on Thursday (December 7) explaining that despite an approach, the Dons boss would not be making the switch to Ibrox.
“As everyone is aware, Rangers made an approach on Tuesday [December 5] evening and they were refused permission to speak with Derek,” Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne told the official website.
“I spoke with Derek who felt it was a major thing to be considered for the managerial position at a club such as Rangers and we agreed that he could have some time to think about the approach and talk it through with his family.
“Over the past 48 hours, I have been in constant dialogue with Derek and having weighed up the opportunity, he has taken the decision to remain as Aberdeen FC manager.”
Simon Grayson looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and Sunderland.
It is a big call from McInnes to turn down both jobs, but while the two clubs have huge histories in the game, there is a feeling both of their current setups are somewhat chaotic.
It would not be too harsh to say that the Scot made the correct decision in rejecting the Black Cats as their eventual appointment, Simon Grayson, was axed after just 18 games and the Wearsiders are currently off the bottom of the Championship table on goal difference alone.
Now it remains to be seen whether McInnes will be proven correct with Gers, but he did finish ahead of them in second in 2016/17 after their return to the Scottish Premiership and this season is level on points with them behind leaders Celtic.
