Callum McGregor hints Celtic could have beaten Rangers more than 5-0 had several of their players not been ill during the game.

Callum McGregor has pondered what could have been after beating Rangers 5-0, with the midfielder revealing to the Scotsman that several Celtic players were actually ill during the game.
The Hoops confirmed the Scottish Premiership title victory with the win against their Old Firm rivals at Parkhead, with McGregor scoring the fifth goal.

“There was no way I was going to pull out of a day like this because these are the games you want to play in – especially to go and finish the league off,” the 24-year-old told the Scotsman.
“There must have been a wee bug going about because a few of the boys were struggling with the cold, including KT [Kieran Tierney] and Tom Rogic.
“I’m not sure what we would have done if we were all fully fit.”

Both McGregor and Tierney played the full 90 minutes of the rout at Parkhead, but Rogic was taken off after 67 having scored himself and when it was already admittedly 5-0.
For the Bhoys, there probably aren’t many more satisfying ways to win the league than with such an emphatic victory against Gers.
Yet McGregor seems adamant that it could have been more and perhaps they could have matched their biggest ever success against the Ibrox outfit – a 7-1 triumph in the 1957 Scottish League Cup.
Either way it emphasised that there is still a huge gulf between the two Glasgow teams and Graeme Murty has left his post as Rangers manager in the wake of the result.
