Celtic suffered a 2-1 loss to German champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Callum McGregor has told Celtic’s official website that James Forrest is one of the players in Brendan Rodgers’ squad he looks up to, after the fleet-footed winger starred against Bayern Munich.
Rodgers’ side were unlucky to come away with a defeat after a brave performance against the German champions, despite going 1-0 down in the first half.
Young striker Kinglsey Coman gave Bayern the lead after a mix-up between Dedryck Boyata and Craig Gordon allowed Coman to slide the ball home from the edge of the area, with Gordon nowhere to be seen.

But in the second half, Celtic pressed on and an inch-perfect ball from Forrest gave McGregor the chance of the match, which he took with aplomb by nugmetting Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
However, just moments later, the Hoops were pegged back thanks to a superb Javi Martinez header that was placed perfectly in the corner out of the reach of Gordon.
Forrest, 26, was a thorn in Bayern’s side for the entire 90 minutes and his performance has drawn praise from pundits and players alike, including McGregor.

“James was excellent,” McGregor said. “I’m delighted for him, what a shift he put in and it was a great ball for the goal. He’s got that quality, you see it all the time from him.
“He’s come through the Celtic Academy and gone on to play 250 times for Celtic which is an incredible achievement. If you’ve played 250 games for Celtic, then you’re doing well. It’s guys like James that I look up to.”
Forrest started the match in place of Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts, who suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday during the 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock.
Now, Roberts may struggle to retain his place in the side as Forrest looks to prove why he deserves to start. The Celtic academy product is expected to start for the Hoops against St. Johnstone on Saturday as Rodgers’ side look to go four points clear.
