John McGinn has taken to Instagram to compare Emiliano Martinez to Arsenal legend David Seaman after Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Wolves.

Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett also hopped onto Instagram to praise the Argentine, who delivered an excellent display at Molineux.

After the £17 million glovesman uploaded a post, McGinn commented ‘big davy seaman’ while Mings simply said he was ‘unbelievable 👏🏽’ in the Midlands derby.

Targett wrote ‘class bro 🙌🔥’ in response to the Villa No.1.

McGinn isn’t being exaggerative when comparing Martinez to Seaman – the 28-year-old really was that good against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

According to SofaScore, the Villans shot-stopper made seven saves against Wolves, with four of those coming from shots inside the box.

One stop in particular from a drilled Leander Dendoncker effort was particularly eye-catching in the second half.

Anwar El Ghazi’s 94th minute penalty ultimately earned Dean Smith’s side the three points, after Nelson Semedo tripped McGinn up in stoppage time.

However, it was Martinez’s efforts in goal beforehand which were vital in helping Villa earn their sixth win from ten Premier League games this season.

At the time of writing, the Midlands-based outfit now sit eighth in the Premier League after a very impressive start to the campaign.
