Scott McDonald has told The Daily Record that he does not think that Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic will leave the club in the summer transfer window.

The former Celtic star believes that the Hoops will not sell Rogic on the cheap this summer.

However, McDonald has added that there is a question mark on whether the 27-year-old Australia international will play regularly for the Hoops.

According to The Daily Record, Rogic has three more years left on his contract at the Glasgow giants.

McDonald told The Daily Record about Rogic: “Tom Rogic is facing a tough task now to break back in the way Neil Lennon has the team set up.

“But he’s had so much experience now at a certain level that Lennon knows he can bring him on and he can change a game.

“Whether or not Tommy starts ever again week-in, week-out for Celtic is a big question. I’m not sure that happens but, regardless, I think he’ll see out his contract.

“Nobody is moving anywhere bar loans in the next transfer window because nobody’s going to have money to buy. And Celtic won’t let Tommy go for nothing, so he’ll have to sit and fight for his place.”

Stats

As stated on Celtic’s official website, Rogic has scored 38 goals in 190 appearances in all competitions for the Glasgow giants so far in his career.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder made six starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops this past season, scoring two goals in the process.

The Australian also played 114 minutes in the Europa League, twice in the Scottish League Cup and once in the Scottish Cup for Neil Lennon’s side this campaign, according to WhoScored.

While Rogic did not have a great campaign on a personal level for Celtic this past season, he remains an important player in Lennon’s team and will be crucial in their quest to make it 10 league titles in a row in 2020-21.
