Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is currently on loan at Berwick Rangers.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty is reportedly set to hand new contracts to two Rangers teenagers after already securing deals for defender Aidan Wilson and midfielder Jamie Barjonas.

The Scottish Sun claims Gers twins Ross and Robby McCrorie are to be handed extensions on their current deals, as both teenagers continue to impress in their developmental stages.

Ross, 19, has broken into the Rangers first team alongside Euro 2016 winner Bruno Alves, Danny Wilson and Fabio Cardoso at centre-back, while Robby is impressing on loan at Scottish League Two side Berwick Rangers.

Now, both Rangers academy products are expected to be handed new contracts if the report is to be believed, with Robby’s extension giving him more of a chance to push for a place in the first team in the coming years.

The report claims McCrorie can be recalled in January from his loan, and that could see him become the Gers’ third-choice goalkeeper behind Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick.

However, Robby’s potential contract offer is likely to see Liam Kelly pushed further down the pecking order, with the Scotland Under-21 international now two years older than his teenage teammate.

If a new deal is handed to McCrorie, then it is clear that the Gers hierarchy have more faith in his potential than Kelly.

The 21-year-old is still yet to make his Rangers debut, and is seemingly being overlooked for a new contract with the Gers reportedly preferring to hand highly-rated goalkeeper McCrorie a new deal.

Kelly has 18 months remaining on his current contract and will be 23 by the time that expires.

If he does fall even further down the pecking order, due to McCrorie’s new deal, surely his only chance of saving his career from falling into the abyss will be to jump ship?

At 21 and without any sniff of first-team action at Ibrox, Kelly’s days are numbered and with Rangers reportedly placing their faith in McCrorie, a transfer sooner rather than later seems to be his only option.
