The Fulham striker is helping Kit Symons’ side’s surge up the Championship table.
Former Leeds striker Ross McCormack is getting rave reviews from Fulham fans after his latest display of brilliance for the Cottagers against Huddersfield Town.
The Scot both scored and assisted as his side beat Chris Powell’s men 3-1 and McCormack is now one of the Championship’s top three when it comes to assists this season.
| Team | Goal Assist | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matt Ritchie | Bournemouth | 8 | 17 | 1,305 |
| Michail Antonio | Forest | 6 | 17 | 1,419 |
| Ross McCormack | Fulham | 6 | 16 | 1,336 |
| David Cotterill | Birmingham | 5 | 16 | 1,375 |
| Alan Judge | Brentford | 5 | 17 | 1,517 |
| Hugo Rodallega | Fulham | 5 | 12 | 986 |
| Johnny Russell | Derby | 5 | 17 | 909 |
Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie is a clear leader, helping Eddie Howe’s side into second (first before yesterday) in the table with eight assists.
Just behind him is Michail Antonio, one of Nottingham Forest’s saviours during their win over Norwich City yesterday.
Former Leeds man McCormack, though, has played one game less than both the Forest and Bournemouth stars and is in the top three.
| Team | Assists | Chances Created | Goals | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hugo Rodallega | Fulham | 2 | 3 | 1 | 90 |
| Adryan | Leeds | 1 | 4 | 0 | 64 |
| Paul Dixon | Huddersfield | 1 | 4 | 0 | 83 |
| Will Hughes | Derby | 1 | 3 | 0 | 90 |
| Jacob Murphy | Blackpool | 1 | 4 | 0 | 90 |
| Lee Martin | Millwall | 1 | 5 | 0 | 90 |
| Omar Mascarell | Derby | 1 | 4 | 0 | 89 |
| Ross McCormack | Fulham | 1 | 3 | 1 | 90 |
Intriguingly, however, a Fulham team-mate is challenging the 28-year-old when it comes to setting chances up. Indeed, against Huddersfield, both Hugo Rodallega and McCormack created three chances – but the former registered one more assist. Consequently, he is just behind the Scot in terms of overall assists.
Still, there can be no doubting that McCormack is hitting at least somewhere close to the form he produced for Leeds United last season.
Nottingham Forest have their creative force in Antonio, while Bournemouth’s Ritchie is still the man to be caught. But, in terms of setting up goals recently, McCormack has been one of the stars of the Championship.
