Ally McCoist has shared what he messaged Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard just after he won them the Scottish Premiership title on the Greatest Game Podcast.
Gerrard is well on course to making himself a Rangers legend for his time at Ibrox so far, and their title success this year was a real highlight.
Rangers not only got themselves back on top of the pile, but they ended Celtic’s dominance.
The Bhoys had been looking to win 10 titles in a row, but they simply could not compete with Gerrard’s side this term.
Rangers completed an unbeaten league season at the weekend, which highlights the gap between them and every other team this term.
And McCoist thinks that Gerrard may never actually top this achievement in his entire managerial career, given what it means to Rangers’ fans.
“What I said to him was ‘no matter what you do, or where you go in your career, you will never ever win anything else that will mean so much to so many people’,” McCoist said.
“He gets that – I don’t care what he does. I believe no matter what he does, he’ll never satisfy that group of fans that he is representing more than he did the Rangers fans this season.
“Stopping 10 in a row, there was a massive element of that, there was a massive element of getting back on to the European scene, and the big one that the punters wanted was to be back crowned champions of their own country.

“The feeling and the euphoria he has given so many people, I don’t know if he’ll ever equal it in future.”
Gerrard’s success has quickly drawn admiring glances from elsewhere, but the Rangers boss has so far suggested that he wants to stay at Ibrox.
Indeed, the Rangers boss told Sky Sports that he wants the club’s board to invest this summer to help them build on their advantage.
If Rangers can strengthen over the summer then they will be building from a position of strength and even though Celtic will surely improve next season, they will prove a difficult prospect to catch.
