It is no secret that Steve McClaren is struggling for positive results of late, but the Queens Park Rangers boss should look to pair Eberechi Eze up top with Nahki Wells in a ploy to climb the table.
Rangers have suffered eight defeats in their last nine and, although Eze is an attacking midfielder by trade, his link-up play with Wells this season has promoted a strong sense the former can adapt as a secondary striker.
In the victory over Leeds United, manager Steve McClaren opted to play a 4-4-1-1 with Eze more advanced than normal and it worked better than expected.
Although Eze and Wells did not score, the potential partnership offered glimpses of what could come.
Both players are talented in their own right but, in the midst of QPR’s bad patch of form, McClaren must look to sustain a consistent goal threat and Eze playing off Wells would offer many benefits.
Wells offers an abundance of pace with a natural eye for goal at Championship level, and Eze has the individual skill laced with natural talent and a partnership would only help him flourish.
Although the R’s main concern is conceding sloppy goals, the west Londoners need to be more ruthless in front of goal and they would soon see an improvement in results.
