Leeds United are considering Oliver McBurnie.
Leeds United are busy working out how to reload their squad for next season and finding the right strikers is key to getting into the promotion picture.
One of their targets is Swansea City forward Oliver McBurnie, who manager Paul Heckingbottom signed on loan for Barnsley.
The Sun (18/3 p60) reported Leeds’ desire to sign the forward who has netted six goals in nine games this season.
Current Leeds striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga faces an uncertain future as his loan deal expires in June, so is it a case of either or?
Not necessarily, as McBurnie’s comments on his style of play state that he feels he can thrive and play his best when alongside a traditional centre-forward, hailing his current partnership with Kieffer Moore.
He told SkySports: “Big Kieffer [Moore] keeps the centre-backs occupied, so I get a little more space around the box which I think has helped me.
“The gaffer likes my versatility and he has given me the freedom to drift around to try and make things happen.”
It is a partnership which could work at Leeds if McBurnie and Lasogga end up as their forwards next season. Perhaps having the Swansea forward up top around Lasogga would help him too feel less isolated.
A lot of work has to be done on this front, and Leeds also have to work out where new signing Tyler Roberts would fit in.
But it is clear that it should not be a case of ‘either or’ when it comes to Lasogga and McBurnie. The answer may actually simply be ‘both’.
