Rangers strikers Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos played together for Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side on Wednesday.
Jermain Defoe of Rangers
Defoe and Morelos started for Rangers in their 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur striker Defoe scored for the Gers in the 12th minute.
McAvennie, though, was not too impressed with the partnership between the two Rangers strikers, and believes that there could be a problem playing the duo together.
McAvennie said on Open Goal: “Morelos stayed upfront, and that’s no good to Defoe. Morelos would be better doing that (playing behind), but he just thought, ‘I am staying upfront’. So there’s going to be a wee problem there.”

No Jermain Defoe or Steven Davis today?
Rangers will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Livingston away from home in the Scottish Premiership.
Ahead of the match, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has suggested that he may not include striker Defoe or midfielder Steven Davis in his starting lineup due to Livingston having an artificial surface.
Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “On the back of a tough game on astro it does take longer to recover for everyone. Not just those two.
“I have to take into consideration they have not played much football, and I want them fit and available for the next six months — not the next six games.
“It is something I am thinking about. I need to find the freshest team and the team that is most capable of bouncing back.”
Rangers are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 42 points from 22 matches, six points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
