Three surprise teams who could break into Europe this season

The Premier League is as unpredictable as ever it was and Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley could all capitalise.

It seems as if there is a shake-up in every Premier League season, meaning clubs will unexpectedly rise to prominence. While the top four seems to be back to the more established figures, there is a still a chance for some clubs to spring a surprise and get into the Europa League places.

Here are three unexpected clubs who could make that jump.

Watford

Under Walter Mazzarri, Watford have progressed once again after their first season back in the top flight last year. It appears that every aspect of the Hornets’ team is clicking. Heurelho Gomes has been outstanding in goal, the back three is working perfectly and Nordin Amrabat is striking up a partnership with talismanic captain Troy Deeney.

They have already beaten Manchester United this season, came desperately close to felling Antonio Conte’s Chelsea and defeated champions Leicester City this weekend. They are showing some impressive mettle early on this season and with a coach of Mazzarri’s quality, the sky is the limit this season.

AFC Bournemouth

After a recent slip-up, Bournemouth are back in the top half of the table after a smash-and-grab win over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium. As well as this, they have already held title-challenging Tottenham to a draw at the Vitality Stadium as well as seeing off Ronald Koeman’s Everton.

Bournemouth are clearly no slouches and with the likes of Junior Stanislas and Calum Wilson involved, they have pace and power in abundance. With a player of the calibre of Jack Wilshere now getting regular game time, the Cherries could be set to spring a big surprise this season.

Burnley

After having a tough time of it last time round in the league, Sean Dyche has returned with a solid and cohesive Burnley side who look ready to take on all comers both home and away. A resolute display against Arsenal was spoiled only by a contentious late goal, while an impressive 2-0 win over Liverpool stands head and shoulders above any performance against the table-topping Reds this season.

But they have now shown they can do it on the road. The imperious Tom Heaton managed to keep out Manchester United at Old Trafford and if they can match their resilience on the road with their dominance at Turf Moor, the Clarets will be in for a very interesting season indeed.
