Tottenham Hotspur are in need of a new striker this summer, but Jose Mourinho may find it difficult to bring one in.
Spurs have the ever-present problem of trying to tempt a striker to the club. Sitting behind Harry Kane isn’t all that appealing to many, such as Victor Osimhen.
Add in that the global pandemic has hit Tottenham’s budget, and bringing in a quality attacker to support Kane seems like a difficult task.
Still, one new rumour has emerged on this subject. L’Equipe report that Spurs want Rennes striker M’Baye Niang, and are making their move for him.
It’s claimed that Spurs are in talks with Niang’s representatives about a deal, though Marseille are fighting for his signature too.
The Senegalese attacker hit 15 goals in all competitions this season. With his ability to play out wide or up front, Niang could provide real versatility.

Niang, 25, has made interesting comments about Jose Mourinho recently. In an Instagram live session last month, he was asked about Tottenham wanting his team mate Eduardo Camavinga.
Niang replied by suggesting that it’s hard to refuse Mourinho, hinting that playing for him would be such a great opportunity.
“At some point, you have requests where you say to yourself: ‘How am I going to refuse (Tottenham) if guys like Mourinho call?’. That’s when you really have to ask yourself and say; ‘What are these people going to bring me?'” said Niang.
With Mourinho now believed to be chasing Niang himself, these comments now look important as Tottenham look to beat Marseille to his signature. This kind of stance may be a small advantage for Spurs, and one to try and take advantage of this summer.
