M’Baye Niang has reportedly snubbed a permanent deal with Watford.
Watford’s M’Baye Niang in action with West Ham United’s Pedro Obiang
According to ESPN, M’Baye Niang has rejected the chance to join Watford on a permanent deal – and West Ham United should be looking to take full advantage.
Niang, 22, was touted as one of the stars of the future during his time with Caen in his native France, and he earned a big move to AC Milan in 2012.
The forward hasn’t exactly lived to expectations though, and after notching 12 goals in 77 games for the Italian giants, he was sent out on loan to Watford in January, with a view to a permanent deal.
Niang has flashed real quality in a conservative Watford side, grabbing two goals and two assists in 15 Premier League appearances – and ESPN now claim that Niang has rejected a permanent move to Vicarage Road.
Walter Mazzarri’s exit as manager has left Niang considering his long-term future, that leaves the door open for Niang to move elsewhere this summer, and a Premier League stay isn’t out of the question.
Watford’s M’Baye Niang scores their second goal
As reported by Sky Sports in January, West Ham were interested in signing Niang from AC Milan, and Slaven Bilic’s men should be looking to make a move to land him this summer.
Niang can play up front or out wide, offering Bilic a versatile attacking option, whilst covering two positions where West Ham have struggled in recent times, with limited success from the likes of Sofiane Feghouli, Gokhan Tore, Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri.
Watford’s M’Baye Niang
Niang may never live up to the hype that surrounding him at Caen, but he still has plenty of untapped potential, and we would come in having already had an adjustment period in the Premier League.
Having previously been keen on Niang, and then seen him both show glimpses with Watford and then reject a permanent deal with the club, West Ham should be looking to swoop in and take him to the London Stadium – whether it’s on loan or permanently – this summer.
