Whisper it, but Harvey Elliott could be a very big player for Liverpool this season.
Despite being just 18, Elliott’s potential is undeniable.
The former Fulham prospect, who joined Liverpool in 2019, spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers and is now part of Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad.
Not only that, but Klopp gave him a full Premier League debut this past weekend and the teenager – playing in midfield – dazzled in a major way during the win over Burnley.
Liverpool are back in action against Chelsea this weekend in what is a big test for Klopp’s side, given that they’re the reigning European champions.
And Elliott continues to impress in training, with the club releasing footage of him curling past a helpless Adrian at the Axa Training Centre yesterday.
Here’s what some Liverpool fans are saying in response to the goal:
Back on the bench
Despite his performance against the Clarets, it’s likely that he won’t start against Chelsea at Anfield.
Klopp might have Fabinho back after he missed last weekend for personal reasons, while Thiago Alcantara, who started on the bench against Sean Dyche’s side, will be a lot fitter now after recovering from injury.
As mentioned, Chelsea won the Champions League only a few months ago and as hungry as Elliott will be to make an impression against the Blues, Klopp could – and should – turn to his experienced heads.
