So, it’s official. One of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer has already ended, as Kylian Mbappe will now be staying at Paris Saint-Germain.
There was strong interest from Real Madrid, while Liverpool were also said to be keen on signing the World Cup winner.
In fact, the Guardian believe Mbappe actually phoned Florentino Perez – President of Real Madrid – to explain why he wants to stay in Paris.
The 23-year-old has penned a new three-year contract, which is said to be worth a staggering €84m-a-year (£71m-a-year).
Now, Liverpool’s summer could be about to get a bit more difficult.
What’s the story?
Well, put Mbappe aside for a moment, and let’s focus on another Frenchman.
Monaco wonderkid Aurelien Tchouameni is believed to be a target for Liverpool this summer, and it has even been said that Jürgen Klopp personally wants him at Anfield.
However, Real Madrid are also interested in the 22-year-old.

In our view, the Spanish giants are now going to embark on a spending spree to make up for missing out on Mbappe, with Tchouameni potentially being the first arrival.
According to the Guardian, Mbappe’s mother, Fayza, said that Real Madrid and PSG both made the same financial offer to the striker, so Los Blancos definitely have the money to spend.
Liverpool can still sign Aurelien Tchouameni
While Mbappe’s decision could now cause a major issue for Klopp in his hunt for Tchouameni, there is still hope.

As we opined recently, we believe the winner of the Champions League final will be decisive in the race for Tchouameni.
Similarly to when Eden Hazard chose Chelsea over a host of European giants, following their Champions League success in 2012, we feel the France international will also opt for the European champions.
The Champions League is a prestigious competition, and whoever wins it immediately becomes the most attractive club in football, in our view.
Therefore, if Liverpool can lift their seventh major European cup in Paris at the end of the month, Mbappe staying at PSG may not cause any issues after all.
